Gravesham began the New Year with a hard fought victory over a competetive Canterbury City team at Cascades in an entertaining end to end game.
Gravesham almost took an early lead as the Canterbury keeper just held on to a cross at the second attempt but it was Canterbury who struck first with a powerful header from a deep corner on 15 minutes.
Gravesham responded well and were level within three minutes when Lucie broke down the left.and her cross was met with a neat volleyed finish from Brooke.
Throughout the match.Gravesham battled hard with Jo making some good sprawlimg saves when called upon.
In defence Becky M.Hollie.Tillie.Grace .Megan and Ollie on her debut all worked hard.while midfielders.Nicole .Claire.Hannah.Imy and Lucie excelled in both defensive duties and pushing forward
Brooke and Becky S led the line well.never giving the Canterbury defence a moments peace.
An outstanding individual goal from Nicole midway through the second half won the game.
After some neat build up play Nicole collected the ball some 30 yards out on the left.She then dribbled through three or four challenges onto the right side of the penalty box before finishing calmly with a shot across the keeper into the far corner.
Although both sides created further chances there was no addittion to the score
