In the run up to the 2023 Women’s World Cup, the English team had been hit by a series of unfortunate ACL injuries to the likes of Beth Mead and Leah Williamson, ruling them out of the competition.
Women are 3.5 times more likely to suffer this type of injury compared to their male counterparts. Four of our women’s players have sustained this ACL injuries, including Toni Allen and Keylie Oliver, who were interviewed by Sky News at one of the women’s training sessions to provide an understanding of this issue at a grassroots level.
